Welcomed with an open bar, guests settle in before a tour of the cellar. This is a great opportunity for guests to ask questions, talk a bit about winemaking and to get some context for the activity to follow. Upon returning to the barrel room each team is seated at a table for discussion of assemblage, instruction on the use of the equipment and some guidelines to help them along the way.
Teams write their own tasting notes, develop a name for their wine, a price point, and a pitch that they will present to the group at the end. During the blending we make rounds to provide some helpful tips for blending, tasting and developing tasting notes.
Wines are judged in two categories, best blend and most creative pitch.
